Joseph J. Cahill Jr.

Loving Father and Grandfather ~ WWII Bronze Star Recipient ~ True Gentleman

A lifelong student and true believer that there are no limits to learning, Joe was a shining example that dedicated time and diligent work led to success.  He was an inspiring role model to his siblings, children, grandchildren and students, and he lived his life with focused passion, unbridled curiosity, generous sharing and genuine humility.

His grand and blessed life was set to a melody that will forever play on in the hearts and minds of those fortunate to have known him.  With his beloved wife Margaret forever by his side, Joe's legacy of love, laughter, personality and ability to make others smile will be shared for generations to come.

To ensure your generosity and support are acknowledged - and to help protect you from future solicitations - the Cahill Family has requested that memorial contributions be made through IN MEMORY OF to the following

Valley Forge Military Academy & College

Overall the mission of Valley Forge Military Academy & College is to educate student cadets to be fully prepared for their responsibilities as citizen leaders ~ to be mentally alert, sound in body, considerate of others and possessed of the highest sense of duty, honor, loyalty and courage. They strive to foster the love of God and country, high moral standards and strong character traits that will make all cadets a credit to themselves, their families, their alma mater, their country, and their God.

Joe had a lifelong love of music and enjoyed sharing that gift with others ~ he was particularly proud that his love of music and art expanded through generations as his children and grandchildren received recognition for their gifts in these fields. His grandson was a band leader at VFMAC, and donations made in Joe's honor will be directed specifically to the band program.

Wissahickon Valley Watershed

In 1957 a small, committed group of local leaders conceived the Wissahickon Valley Watershed Association to address the dangers of flooding posed by the Wissahickon Creek.  They understood the interconnectedness of the water, the land and the inhabitants of the Watershed.  Since then the Watershed has changed dramatically but the mission and the dreams remain the same ~ to protect the quality and the beauty of the Wissahickon Creek and to enhance all life in the Wissahickon Watershed.

Joseph often referred to his childhood hometown of Manayunk, PA as “Paradise on Earth”, with the Wissahickon Creek offering him countless hours of adventure and delight with siblings.
