Lauryn Nicole Okaly

Innately artistic & intelligent, Lauryn was also gifted with a loving compassion, sharing it freely & generously with all those who were fortunate to have been a part of her world.

Her inner light will continue to shine through in the hearts of all those she loved and who loved her unequivocally in return.

To ensure your generosity and support are acknowledged - and to help protect you from future solicitations - the Okaly Family has requested that memorial contributions be made through IN MEMORY OF to the

National Education Association for

Borderline Personality Disorder

Borderline personality disorder (BPD) is a serious mental illness that centers on the inability to manage emotions effectively. Usually beginning during adolescence or early adulthood, the disorder occurs in the context of relationships: sometimes all relationships are affected, sometimes only one. Officially recognized in 1980 by the psychiatric community, BPD is more than two decades behind in research, treatment options, and family psycho-education compared to other major psychiatric disorders. Historically met with widespread misunderstanding and blatant stigma, evidenced-based treatments have emerged over the past two decades bringing hope to those diagnosed with the disorder and their loved ones.

The Mission of the National Education Association for Borderline Personality Disorder is to provide education, raise public awareness and understanding, decrease stigma, promote research and enhance the quality of life of those affected by BPD. NEA.BPD works with families and persons in recovery, raises public awareness, provides education to professionals, promotes research, and works with Congress to enhance the quality of life for those affected by this serious but treatable mental illness.
