To ensure your generosity and support are acknowledged, Martin’s family has requested that memorial contributions be made through IN MEMORY OF to the following

World Wildlife Fund

Founded in 1961, the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) was originally concerned explicitly with saving species and landscapes. Since its inception, it has evolved to addressing the larger global threats and forces that impact them. Its new strategy puts people at the center and organizes its work around six key areas: forests, marine, freshwater, wildlife, food and climate. By linking these six areas in an integrated approach, the WWF we can better connect cutting-edge conservation science with the collective power of its partners in the field to help local communities conserve the natural resources they depend upon; transform markets and policies toward sustainability; and protect and restore species and their habitats.

Prostate Cancer Foundation

The Prostate Cancer Foundation (PCF) is the world’s leading philanthropic organization funding and accelerating prostate cancer research. Unique in its approach to medical research funding, PCF identifies the most promising research ideas and attracts brilliant individuals and teams of scientists, early in their careers, to PCF’s Research Enterprise, where they are able to connect globally to exchange information and share scientific data in real time. Over the last two decades, PCF has provided funding to more than 2,000 research projects at more than 200 cancer centers and universities in 19 countries around the world. These funds resulted in 23 chemically distinct, “first-in-field” anti-prostate cancer medicines in the pipeline, and between 2010 and 2013 the number of drugs approved to treat prostate cancer doubled, from just 6 drugs approved in nearly 30 years to another 6 drugs approved in just 4 years. Of those 6 drugs, 5 were FDA-approved because they actually prolonged patients’ lives, rather than simply easing their symptoms. By funding leading-edge research with innovative treatments now reaching patients, PCF has helped lower the U.S. death rate from prostate cancer by more than 50% as it continues its mission to eradicate this disease.

St. Labre Indian School

St. Labre was founded on the principle that education is very much a form of social justice. Serving the Native American student population in Southwestern Montana, the St. Labre schools embrace Native American cultures, primarily the Northern Cheyenne and Crow Tribes, in conjunction with a traditional Catholic School education. Students attending the St. Labre school have high school graduation rates of almost 93% and college attendance of 85%, significantly higher than both the Montana and U.S. population of Native American children.
